Sunday, January 30 10am–6pm ––––––––– 1000 E 60th St, Los Angeles, CA 90001

ISM will have a booth at the upcoming Black Market Flea on Sunday, January 30, at The Beehive in South LA. BlackMarketFlea is a community-driven public shopping market that focuses on promoting Black creatives. The sprawling event showcases over 80 vendors with a variety of offerings from cut and sewn clothing, to candles, to vegan burgers, and handmade accessories.

From the LA Times:

“BlackMarketFlea is something to be felt. As much as it’s a showcase of L.A. streetwear brands, artists, healers, it’s a showcase of love. That’s what you feel — love. Flowing freely. Everywhere.”

ISM Fashion House: A Look Back at 2021

Part 1 | LIFT OFF

ISM Fashion House launched on December 31, 2020. Much of 2020 was spent sheltering in place as Brennan dreamed up the designs and logistics of our debut collection, Ile de France. Our website went live just in time for the new year. The launch wouldn’t have happened without the help of our talented network of friends, who we’d like to thank for being an integral part of our first year running ISM.

Part 2 | COLLABORATION

In March, we met artist Alain Gakwaya at his studio in San Antonio’s arts district. This meeting inspired us to develop the first chapter of ISM Family, our ongoing series in which we introduce our community to the creators who inspire us most. Over the next few months, we participated in our first pop-up events at Artists & Fleas, Johnny’s West Adams, and Topanga Living Cafe, where the Ile de France collection remains available to try-on and purchase. ISM also became a featured brand on The Fifteen Percent Pledge—an organization that challenges businesses to dedicate 15% of their shelf space to Black-owned businesses.

Part 3 | CELEBRATION

Later in spring, we opened our first showroom in Venice Beach, CA, where we celebrated ISM’s launch alongside our closest loved ones. We gathered for the first time since the pandemic began to take in the Ile de France collection, coupled with an exhibition of Alain’s paintings and musical performances. ISM celebrated two publications in 2021. Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam photographed our friend and model Sarai Rollins for the August cover shoot wearing our flagship style, Mont Saint Michel. Brennan was also featured in Shoutout LA, a publication dedicated to amplifying the small businesses, independent artists, and creatives who make up the fabric of our communities.

2021 was an incredible year of vision, drive, challenges, and triumphs for ISM Fashion House. Despite all of the setbacks and snags, we appreciate your support as we move forward together. We want to give the love back, so we’re offering a 22% OFF discount code on all products for a limited time.

The Fifteen Percent Pledge

We’re proud to be featured by The Fifteen Percent Pledge. The Fifteen Percent Pledge is an organization that challenges businesses to dedicate 15% of their shelf space to Black-owned brands to reflect the 15% of the U.S. population comprised of Black people.

From their website:

“The Fifteen Percent Pledge is a call to action for major retailers and corporations to join us in creating sustainable and supportive ecosystems for Black-owned businesses to succeed. We work with companies to comprehensively re-evaluate their org structures, ways of working, funding, and resourcing in order to implement meaningful change and create greater equity for Black businesses.”
